My wife and I took a ride down to Wallops Island this weekend to watch the Antares rocket launch from the NASA launch site at Wallops Island range in Virginia.
It was our first time to Wallops to watch a launch, however we did see a nighttime launch from our home a few hundred miles to the north in Pennsylvania, USA.
Lots of people gathered and were not disappointed as we all witnessed a flawless launch on a beautiful but windy day.
The Antares rocket, owned by Northrop Grumman, was loaded with eight thousand pounds of resupplies for the international space station (ISS).

It will take the Antares two days to catch up and rendezvous with the ISS which at that time, astronauts with ‘catch’ the vessel with the extending ‘Canada’ arm and retrieve the payload.
