A place for my family and I to share our photographs and stories with the world.
Photography is something we enjoy immensely.
Wherever we go searching for subjects, we have cameras in hand, attempting to capture anything we find interesting in the hopes others will also find them intriguing as well.
Thank you for reading, following, and sharing your thoughts.

Tony
Thanks for stopping by and following me… Photography has also helped me overcome obstacles in my life. There’s something about getting lost through the lens and seeing the world that way. I’m looking forward to looking around here
Thank you. Nothing like taking photos, lots of fun, great hobby, and its brought me here meeting great people from all over the world. Who can complain about that, right? Thank you for stopping by my space as well. I really like your work! Pass by RVA a few times a year, interesting city, great buildings, and of course, nice racetrack!! Thanks again. Tony;)
Thanks for liking my poem.x.
No problem, Nem. I can imagine the image you are writing about. I like it and your writing style! Thank you also for visiting here and saying hello. Welcome!
Tony
Tony,
“NOW WHAT?” Likes your intention of living life to it’s fullest. It’s all how we perceive the world around us. The tools you use is your mind, eyes, ears, and a camera to keep the shot clear, and clean in your mind. Did you ever go back and re-look at the picture and the words you used and see it from a different perspective? “NOW WHAT?”
Absolutely. I look at everything in life and wonder all of the different ways to perceive things and in doing so, it opens ones mind and helps people understand each other better. Thank you very much for your insight/comment and thank you for replying! Have a great day. Tony
I an enjoying your blog so far. I wanted to share a quote with you that came to mind when I read your biography.
“I wish more people felt that photography was an adventure the same as life itself and felt that their individual feelings were worth expressing. To me, that makes photography more exciting.”
Harry Callahan quotes
Cherisong, I have to tell you, before reading your post, if you would have mentioned the name Harry Callahan, I’d of thought of Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry. Lmao.
But seriously, after reading your reply, I now know about the photographer, Harry Callahan, and I thank you!
When I read Mr. Callahan’s quote….I can absolutely imagine myself writing the same thing, but adding the part…
“…and somewhere within it all, my excitement for life and photography blends creating a churning maelstrom of positive emotion that is very hard for me to contain, as if I have this obsession to focus on and capture almost everything I see, express my excitement for the subjects in words and image, and then share it all with the world in the hopes my enthusiasm will be contagious enough for others to expand their focus to wide-angle and take it all in, appreciating everything in it for what it truly is…a gift to us all, and go into the world and see it for themselves and absorb life.”
That biography was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write in my entire life, simply because it reflects on the man I was, and the man I am today. An extremely hard journey I still struggle with sometimes, but I forge on.
Adversity does that to a person sometimes, if they are really lucky, taking something away but offering something in return, and in my case, thanks to my faith and those around me, to photography and writing, I have opened my eyes and realized life goes forward, everyday is a gift and is there to be appreciated. The choice is ours to live it to its fullest, or to lock ourselves away in our own minds, closing our eyes to the wonderful world around us.
Man, so sorry for seeming long winded. Lots of passion flowing today. Just feel really grateful for everything.
Have a great day and thank you for your reply!
Tony
Thanks for stopping by my blog and following. I really liked what you had to say here on your about page and I am motivated to follow. Look forward to seeing more from you
Ninali, thank you for stopping by and welcome! I’m trying here, and every follow is very cool to me. I really do check out every page I follow, and don’t just follow anyone. I liked your header, you armed with the Nikon, and I really like what you captured with your kids, your little one crawling towards the baseball diamond, but what I see is his attempt to join his siblings. Very cool shots. Thank you very much for your reply and have a great day. Looking forward to more of your photos.
Tony
Very kind of you to say Tony, and I look at all the blogs I follow as well and am pretty choosy to be honest. With four kiddos I have to be
I agree with you about the picture with my little girl crawling onto the diamond…she is always in her brother’s business and want nothing more than to be in the middle of it. So no doubt she was venturing over to join them in all their shenanigans
BTW how old is your daughter that took all the pictures in Amish country? She did fantastic
Just became a teenager! Thanks, I’ll pass that along to her.
thanks for liking my weekly photo challenge post and following my blog
Opipopio, I like the feel of the pictures on your blog. Cool vibe. The retro shutters were interesting as well, but the header photo, the feet on the beach, I really like, just reminds me of so much. Thank you for stopping by and most importantly, replying, and welcome! I like the dreamer part as well, I’m a big time dreamer, but like Albert Einstein once said or at least gets credit for saying, “Imagination is more important then knowledge.” Thanks again for stopping by, have a great one.
Tony
Thanks for the visit and the follow. I’m still feeling my way around, and trying to do more with blogging tank what I’ve done before. I like your statement about your version of Photojournalism. It’s got me thinking about what my version is these days, compared to what I thought it was many years ago.
Photojournalism has always been fascinating to me, but I’m limited as to what I know about it. I always loved photography, so this blog thing is nice to pull it all together in a fun way. Are all the pictures on your site from you? Nice! Thank you for stopping by and commenting. Welcome!
Tony
Hi Tony,
Yes, the pictures on my site are all taken by me. Part of my experimenting with the camera and learning how to take pictures.
I’ve always wanted to be a photojournalist, but this is as close to photojournalism that I’m going to get.
Regards,
Great blog and lovely pics. I look forward to seeing.reading more
Maria….Thank you very much! I’m having a blast meeting new people and getting the opportunity to share my photos and stories. Thank you for your reply!

Tony
Your welcome!
p.s. only one reply came….
oops, got ‘em both!
Cool. Now I know it works. For some reason I don’t see any acknowledgement that my iPhone reply was sent. Thanks for letting me know, I probably double replied everyone since being away. lol.
Ha, have you ever accidentally pressed “reblog” on your iphone…..I almost had a heart attack a few times, but thank goodness it didn’t reblog anything!
Yes! I try to read most of the blogs I follow from my iPhone, since I’m not always near a laptop, and on occasion that has happened to me. Yes.

Selah, wow, thank yo very much. I really appreciate your nomination!
Tony
you are welcome.. and you deserve to be recognized.
stay-at-home-dadism rocks man. I had the privilege of being that for a few years. It was wonderful and all that other stuff too
Agreed, Myronathon! It does rock! Thanks for your reply and cool you had a chance to experience it as well! Have a good one! Tony!
I feel so fortunate to have found your blog! I am a fairly recent convert to photography. There is a story behind it, that you can find here:
But, I find it very interesting that you came to photography for much the same reasons that i did! Physical adversity – maybe instead of “adversity” I should call it “possibility!” Most of my photos are nature photos, too – mainly because that is what I love taking photos of. I am just beginning to work on photographing animals and pets, though. I love my safari at the zoo last August. That got my feet wet in that department. . . now if only I weren’t still wet behind the photographic ears!
Forgot the link. Here it is!

Thanks so much for following my blog!
You are welcome! Thank you for stopping by and following as well. Have a great day! Tony
Hey Tony, thank you for checking out my artwork recently and following my blog! I’ll be posting some more paintings today
You profile photo… is that one of them Emu’s?? Those things BITE! lol
Hello, Staci, its an ostrich but looks like an emu. I’ll be looking at the paintings soon. Thank you for your reply and have a great day. Tony
What a delightful idea for a blog. I totally agree with you about photography and life, positive lessons and moving forward. . . I used words and photography to get through my Dad’s progression into Alzheimer’s over the past several years (http://yakkergirl.wordpress.com/categories/dad). It was therapeutic for me, and helped many beyond my own family . . . I know your words and images will do the same! Good luck, and never stop believing in the greater good, whatever it is.
Thank you Sandra. Photography has indeed opened up an entirely new world for me. Being so active for most of my entire life, I never thought I could find so much satisfaction in something that was more low key. Photography works for me in that I can stay within my ‘bubble’ and yet get out in the world and capture a moment and talk about it. And if I can encourage others to do the same…well… that’s pretty cool to me!
So many of us deal with life’s pressures and worry on a daily basis and I don’t care who a person is, they need an escape from it sometimes just to ease things a bit. Insert photography…and folks will quickly see what I am talking about. It’s great for the mind, soul, and body. Thank you for your reply, Sandra. Alzheimer’s is a very difficult disease to deal with, not only for the inflicted, but for everyone who knows that person as well. My prayers to you and yours and thanks for stopping by and replying! Have a great day! Tony
I completely agree, Tony, and I am so looking forward to keeping in touch with your blog.
My husband has a page up for his photography, I just don’t have the time for it yet (http://dalebenhamphotography.com). Enjoy!

Because I enjoy and admire your blog so much, I have nominated you for the ABC Award;. http://maxreynolds.wordpress.com/2012/04/10/nominated-for-the-abc-award/ Please do not feel any pressure to accept the award, I understand if you don’t wish to participate. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. -Max-
Max, thank you very very much, I really appreciate it! and I’m going to share something with you that I’m a little embarrassed about and it probably doesn’t take rocket science to figure it out, but I was nominated several times here, and to be honest, I’m not exactly certain what to do I’ve been on wordpress for such a short time, I didn’t want people to think I was rude about not doing something I’m not sure what to do. lol.
Nothing to be embarrassed about. It was a chore to figure it out when I was nominated and accepted the for my first one. All you have to do are the things I did when I announced my nomination today. All the blogger-to-blogger awards have basically the same 3 things; 1)thank the person/site that nominated you. 2)tell people several things about yourself (26 for abc award0. 3) nominate (10 for abc award) other people.
If you follow what I did on my announcement today you’ll be fine. Honestly though don’t feel like you have to do them because it is a bit of work. -Max-
Great, max, Thank you for your reply! Appreciate it! Tony
A delightful blog and great idea to follow!
Thank you, Linda! Welcome and have a great day! Tony

Sandra
Hello Sandra, I enjoy your pictures and really like seeing photographs from other countries so thank you for sharing them and hopefully you will post more in the future. Welcome and thank you for your reply and for stopping by! Have a great day. Tony.
Hi Tony, cheers for following the progress on Serendipity Farm. Like you, I try to find something in a photo that can tell a story. My problem is that I appear to have a few million stories all wanting to tumble out of me at any given time and so my weekly post tends to be a small novella rather than a condensed list of “what we did in our week”. Maybe I should write a book and save all of my blog followers the pain? Nah! it’s like the army…once you sign up…your ass is mine!
. I live in Tasmania Australia…Northern Tasmania to be more precise and if I am REALLY being precise we live on the salty side of the Tamar River just around the corner from the sea. We inherited a 4 acre weed infested property from my dad when he died a year and a half ago and we are now having to prove our horticultural mettle (and actually earn our diploma’s) in effecting change on what we have most appropriately renamed “Serendipity Farm”. Out here in the country you most certainly learn what matters. All of a sudden you realise that there are stars up there in their millions! You get invasions of cicadas in 4 year cycles…you get frogs, native birds, snakes, lizards, the intricacies of a hens life cycle (NONE of it is pretty) and you are shaken out of life as you know it and thrown into a strange alien world where nothing is as it seems. Forget “The Good Life” and all of those romantic nostalgic ideas about living in the country, most of it hurts and the wildlife is out to either kill you, eat you out of house and home or drive you insane. In saying that, I wouldn’t change anything about our lives and suddenly I am really learning what is important and what is just fluff. Glad to see you regularly visiting Serendipity Farm now. If we are out in the garden weeding when you drop by, just put the kettle on the wood stove for us and we can share some time pondering life…the universe and everything. I already know the meaning of life. I watched “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” and the answer is “42″. Not hard eh? I might have missed it if I hadn’t watched that television series…
Thank you for sharing that! Sounds like fun to me, although I completely understand the task you are undertaking to convert the land is very hard. Still, I’d trade life in the suburbs for that opportunity. I never watched the series, but I will investigate! “The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind…” lol. Have a great day! Tony
Hello Tony – I saw that you stopped-by my blog today…thank you for visiting and for letting me know you were there. Scott
Hey, Scott,
Welcome. I really enjoy your photographs. Your one photo of the bridge reminded me of Claude Monet’s painting, “Le Bassin aux nymphéas”,
http://www.intermonet.com/oeuvre/pontjapo.htm
Great work and welcome once again!
Tony
Hello again – I’m very glad you enjoy my photos…and thank you for the reference to Monet. Thank you for the link…and for your nice words. I do appreciate them.

Yes, Louis, I really enjoy your photographs as well. Looking forward to seeing more. Welcome! Tony
I got a notice of your post ‘Sands of the World’ but when clicking it says error – ? And I can’t find it on your site – ?
Sorry. Pulled the post and waiting for some research to come back on it. I’ll re-post asap! Sorry once again! Tony
Hi Tony

Absolutely! Double check to make sure its gone. I just fixed it. Sorry about that. Let me know if it didn’t work. Thanks, Tony.
Hello Tony! Thanks for liking and following my blog! Yours looks really interesting, I’m sure I’ll be back!
Thank you and welcome! Glad you stopped by! Tony
Hi Tony, Thank you so much, first off, for stopping by my blog today, but what a treat as well to not only have you comment but also compliment my photos! I started blogging as a writer who found photos to illustrate my posts, then over time, the photos became the creative spark for my writing. From what I’ve read, we share some similar ideas about that. I look forward to exploring more of your writing and photos too. Happy blogging!
Thank you, Chrissine. Yes, I never really shared much about my writing past, but I’ve played around with it a bit, and then I remembered how much I loved photography, and now it’s my muse, I take a picture and explain about it and tell life stories that may have something to do with that pic, its a lot of fun and people seem to tolerate me and my stories. lol. Seriously, its been great and I thank you for your comments and stopping by! Tony
Hi Tony – Thanks for following my blog… had to say I had a major jolt when your email came in with the ostrich’s head! Here’s why! http://titirangistoryteller.wordpress.com/2011/09/18/you-talkin-a-me/
A case of great minds? I see we are doing a similar sort of thing as well… Nice to meet you!
Veronica
WOW! Hows that for coincidence? Very cool! Great minds…absolutely!!! And nice to meet you as well, Veronica. Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by as well. Tony
Thanks for the follow Tony. I think you’ve got the balance of personal detail and thoughtful discussion just right here. Each photo provides a great discussion point. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your feedback, Jessica! I found the wooden carving very intriguing on your site! Thank you for stopping by and welcome! Have a great weekend! Tony
I actually took the inspiration from a set of carvings that my dad did recently, but I didn’t have a photo of those ones. He does a lot of carving, and their garden is full of carvings. Big hares peeking up between the daffodils, a hedgehog crawling in the undergrowth, even a penguin by the washing line.
I’d like to see those. I’ve always been fascinated by wood carvings! Thank you for sharing and let me know if you ever get the pics from your dads work. Thanks and have a great weekend! Tony
I changed the picture to one of my dad’s carvings if you want to take a look. He’s just finished a teeny rabbit as well. ;o)
Beautiful! Talent runs deep in your family, in the use of words and in carving, creating beautiful things utilizing pen, pulp and wood. Fantastic work! Thank you for sharing! Tony
Thanks Tony, thought you’d like it.
Photo journals are awsome! I look forwarrd to following yours.
Tony, thanks for the follow on my blog today. I like what you’re doing here in your blog and will follow you too!
Thank you, Karen. Your words rang a bell with me, particularly the part about legacy. You might want to check out the post ‘Dear Author’, I was in a similar mindset when writing that. Thank you for stopping by and welcome! Have a great day. Tony
Hi Tony,
Thanks for stopping by… Ireland is the country of residance… much further south is the country of birth!
Cheers for now,
AJ
…the country of my mothers family
Like your blog and found it very interesting! Thanks for stopping by here as well. Looking forward to reading more from you! Cheers! Tony
Your blog has some lovely picture-stories! Thanks for the follow, Tony!
You are welcome! Fantastic photo of the beach on your front page! Tony
“About this blog:
I take a picture and I tell the story behind it! ”
This is exactly what my blog is all about!
thankyou for following my blog!
Lol. You are welcome! Like minds!
Thank you, Chandra!
Was going to respond in Avatar and WordPress but opted to post in About instead.
I too love your blog for it’s personal insight and story, the ideas and words behind your subjects comes across as professional with familiarity to me. I really hope that you understand my words (comments made) in replies. I never want to be that person who shuts another down by expressing my opinion. You do a great blogging job with noticing the action, reaction and detail around, and through your camera lens. I enjoy your points of view and hoping I’m not turning into the “delete” visiter
I believe you have removed 2 posts I have commented on and wanted to make sure, we are cool
I can control myself and not comment (honest) BECAUSE it is your blog and you should always feel free to express yourself anyway you see fit REGARDLESS of what others may think
Blue…we are certainly cool. I apologize, but they weren’t deleted because of your posts. They were deleted because of my uncertainty to post them in the first place. Please do not take that personally. Seriously! That was all me. I really like your replies. They are spot on and accurate!
I am very glad you brought this up because I in no way would ever do something like that intentionally. I had one guy come here and I actually deleted his post after I saw something negative on his blog. I hated doing it by I just couldn’t conscienceless ignore what he wrote, and so I reluctantly deleted him. I really enjoy your insight.
I really try to pick a topic that will have no negative aspects to it (Extremely hard to do sometimes) and when I post something on the fence, or a topic I’m not ‘feeling’, it may happend that sometime after teh post, it comes down and I kick myself for putting it up in the first place. So please, no problem with you whatsoever. I appreciate every reply you give. That’s all me not being 100% with a post prior to publishing. Have a great weekend and thank you for bringing that to my attention, I would have hated that you would have left not knowing the truth.
Same goes for anyone who thinks I’m mad at them or dislike them. It is very very rare for that to happen. Thank you again and thank you for your compliments and continuous support to this blog. I am really working on visiting those who continuously reply here. Tony
Thank you for the lengthy reply
my skin is pretty thick but had to ask. I do try not to take everything personal and I don’t. The best way to get an answer is to ask a question, thus mine. I do remember you mentioning your reasoning behind your deleting a few weeks ago. Just had to double check with you to make sure I was not the catolist.
I have to admit I LOVE the delete button and would be off WP if not for the EDIT feature
I make so many mistakes and am getting better at catching them.
Glad that you share do much. Also understand the struggle about being “up” and cheery for more hours than not. Life is difficult but oh so fascinating and beautiful!
Thank you for having the comment button activated so I can ramble on
Peace
Hi Tony!

Hiya, I’ve nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award!
♥
http://thisandthat93.wordpress.com/2012/06/23/my-first-award-nomination-the-one-lovely-blog-award/
Just checking in and I hope there is a fluky thing going on with my iPad. Why can’t I see any of your writings Tony
what happened
Hey,
Sorry about that. I’m still here, just really crazy with life right now, nothing bad, and been thinking about a new direction for the blog. It’s been a lot of fun but I was thinking about focusing in one area instead of posting about anything and everything. Fact is, so many things interest me that I’m not certain I could focus on just one area. My media files were really taking up a ton of space so I figured maybe a fresh start would be in order and I started cleaning up and, um….got carried away? lol.
Scott from Some little Crum Creek let me know you notified him. Thank you for your concern. Always trying to improve and if I don’t come up with a new concept, I’m fine with the way things were as well, only time will tell. But I hope to get back on with it all in a few weeks or so. Until then, take care and I hope all is well!
Tony
Whew! My heart skipped a few beats!
I’m all about starting over and reorganizing… just leave us a post-it next time
Wishing you the best and look forward to reading what you write again.
Hi. You followed my tiny inactive blog. Then I peep in to see what yours is about and I find a grasshopper, so now I’m thinking maybe it was the cicada. Have a nice day.
Thanks for liking my modest site, cheers!
You are welcome and thanks for the visit. I’ve been away for a while from this blog but I try my best to read everyone I follow. Cheers!
Thanks much for the visit. You certainly have an interesting site and I will be following.
Be well.
Thanks, Steven! You are welcome! Nothing stupid at all about your pics! Great photos on your site! Nice work!
Your Nike wristband/pedometer post isn’t coming up, despite displaying on the reader.
Thanks, Gene. I had some trouble with that post, it said server was doing maintenance etc.. wouldn’t load…so I wiped it. If you’re interested, I really like the Fuelband, we all share it here, I have a medium, and it’s big for the wife and kids, but it’s motivating to get off the couch and simply, keep moving. Check the reviews, some people don’t like it, but like I said, it’s a motivational tool here, especially for the girls who are athletes in my house. Thanks and sorry about that.
Thanks for that – I was interested – the pedometer I bought in Switzerland last year didn’t seem to like the humidity here in Sri Lanka and gave up the ghost. One of the things i’m looking forward to when I get back to Australia is walking again – excuses excuses, I know but what with the heat and humidity, and the potholed roads and almost total lack of pavements, walking’s no fun here, unless you drive to one of the parks, which i’m afraid I rarely do! Anyway, I’ll make a note of the Fuelband and look into it when I hit Singapore, or somewhere – I might be able to find it duty free somewhere on the way back home!
Yes, they seem to be hard to come by here in the states, the next new thing I guess. Can’t watch Barclays Premier League games without seeing the advertisements for the Fuel Band. I like it. Its cool!
Aussie, huh? My Great Grand Uncle was an ANZAC, fought and died in Gallipolli for the Australian fourth infantry, and he was a former Police Officer in Brisbane before he enlisted. Someday I’ll get to Australia for ANZAC day!
Have a great one!
Tony
Hi Tony – thank you for stopping by and the like’s on Still Times which has led me to your site. Great site! You posted a great reply to Cherisong up above. I felt like a peeping-tom looking in through a window and into a person’s heart.
I’ll be following along and keeping up with your work. Great site here and looking forward to more of your work.
Maria
I remember writing that. It’s true. No need to feel like a peeping-tom, I put it out there to inspire others to live life to its fullest. Everyday is indeed a gift, one that so many of us take for granted as if we are entitled to it. Thanks for taking the time to write! Tony

Regina, your shots are great. Really like the one of the hillside in Gallaway. This is a great place to display your work. A lot of really cool people here from all over the world, appreciating each others creativity and giving a glimpse of what it is like in their parts of the world, which personally helps me travel ‘virtually’, less expensive that way and I still get to see the world! lol. Welcome and thanks for your reply! Tony.
